What can I do with an egg shell?

The most frequent reactions :

  • It is beautifull but too fragile...
  • It is beautifull but I don't know what to do with it...
  • It is beautifull but useless...

  • Yes, an egg shell is fragile, but not more than any fine decorative work. Try to drop on the floor one of your crystal glass or the souvenir made of porcelain bought during your last holydays...
    You will buy such an object for decorative purpose, not to play with it, like a painting or a sculpture!

    Newcomers may be surprised but there are so many technics and styles to work on egg shell that there are world wide many "egg fans" who keep collecting new pieces.
    Among the various options, there are : egg shells can be engraved, carved, painted, colored with wax or even embroided. There are a lot of traditionnal drawings used but also a lot of pure creations.

    In some countries, most from eastern Europe, decorated eggs have their place at home. They can be displayed in basket, mainly during Easter period, on the table or hanged on an Easter tree.
    An Easter tree can be easily made of wood gathered in your garden or you can use a stone supportig a tree made of thin iron wire...
    The most beautifull eggshells are displayed individually on egg stands,sometimes home made;
    Egg shell can be easily displayed on a shelf like you can dowith stones.
    Moreover, egg shells with a ribbon can be hanged on your Christmas tree. They are as fragile as the glass decoration sometimes used but with more variety of shapes and colors!

    Finally, if someone tells you "It is beautifull but useless", just answer that the function of such an object is actually to be beautifull and it is already a lot! The world would not be funny if we had only usefull objects at home!!!

    To summarize, decorated egg shells, engraved etc.. (and obviously those displayed here) can be called art works and can find their place at home...
