Various technics have been used:
Watercolor on silk treated with anti-diffusants : This technic is very close to watercolors on paper. It is important to master the subject choosen and palette of colors .
Pulverizing paint on a background already covered with watercolor : First, silk is painted with watercolors, then more intense colors have been pulverized for the leaves.
Work with wax:Wax is used to mask some surfaces. Silk is painted in several phases starting by the clearer colors.
Work with thickener : Leaves are done first with the thickened paint. Background is done during a 2nd phase ensuring correct color fusing.
Blown paint : On a background already covered with watercolors, anti-diffusant has been applied so that paint stays in silk's surface. Then, paint has been "pushed" to form branches by blowing on it.
Paint spreaded by gravity : On silk, paints are applied in big quantities with salt. Then the frame is tilted and the paints spread following gravity action. As simple as it may seem, this technic requires good know-how to apply the correct quantity of paints and the correct tilt angle.
