Hello everybody !
Spring is coming soon, leaves and flowers will develop and roots will grow...
Nature is at work and some will collect its products to create art works... Of course, we are thinking about
René Dhombres,
our artist who, for years, travel all over France to collect various unexpected products :
discover how he dries what he collected, fished or cut...
How René Dhombres is working...
Easter is coming too! The 24th of March! Well, for Catholic of course...
Orthodox celebrate Easter only the 27th of April, still these stories with Calendar...
How will you celebrate Easter ? Well it depends !
In France, kids will look for eggs in gardens. Eggs are gifts from bells coming back from their travel from Rome.
In Germany and USA, eggs are hidden by rabbits !
In Russia, like for other Orthodox countries, eggs have been colored (originally in red to represent the
blood of Jesus Christ), sometime painted but always blessed!
In all countries, this particular day, we look for eggs, eat some others, sometimes they have been nicely decorated, colored or painted...
But, one can ask why eggs ?
Firstly because after winter, an egg is the symbol of the re-start of life ! It was already the case before
the Christian religion appeared. In these ancient times, it was a tradition to exchange painted eggs to celebrate Spring Equinox.
Why Equinox ? Because after Equinox days become longer than nights up to summer and the 21st of June.
Moreover, for Christians, it was forbidden to eat eggs during the period before Easter... So, when it was finally allowed,
everybody took the opportunity ! And well, as hens did not stop to work, it was necessary to use stocks!
By the way, we invite you to discover (again) carved eggs made by Christel Assante (France):
Next month, she will present new works on our website! But, you can discover right now
how she works...
Finally, we present new pictures from Pierre Maubeau (France), our water colorist from Corrèze (France) : Discover boats he saw during his travels.
We remind you the new training course (fusing technic) organised by Michèle Gaspard.
Finally, we remind you our contest for amateur painters in order to promote new talents ...
Please take note that the deadline to participate is now the 15th of May!
