Ostrich egg, « Carver » quality

The ostrich egg is naturally rough and very often streaked; sometimes the streaks are more marked, or are present a little around the perimeter of the egg; or there may be small warts. We have defined the "Carver " quality as being that where the shell presents marked streaks, or then light streaks over the entire surface; The shell is also very healthy, it is well suited for engravers or sculptors who want to practice on an ostrich egg. Sometimes, too, the defect itself is used in the pattern.
